After Earth’s destruction, a small number of humans fled to the Black Eye Galaxy by spaceship and settled down; after thousands of years of breeding, they slowly changed their genes through marriage with alien races and biotechnology innovations. Carbon-based people had been gradually replaced by silicon-based humans, with enhanced physical strength and bigger heights. Their power had been improved as much as possible, there being tough individuals able to use supernatural powers to their advantage.

However, the modified genes were highly unstable, occasionally leading to fetal atavism. Although extremely unlikely, carbon-based people are born every few hundred years. Judging only from their appearance, they were eerily similar to silicon humans, but, in reality, they lacked the brawn and brain, their soft bodies were utterly fragile ━ dry in higher temperatures, cold to the point of freezing in lower temperatures. Even a five year old silicon-based child could easily snap one in two.

The external environment was full of all kinds of unforeseen dangers for them. According to the Apt Brain Database, each carbon-based human did not make it past 30 years of age, and their lifespan was only a measly quarter, or even less, of the average silicon-based individual.

Qi Ze was, unfortunately, a carbon-based man, frail enough to be blown away by a gust of wind.

Two years ago, Yan Junyu saved Qi Ze in the Great Forest of Morona, and a year later, he rejected his confession mercilessly and had completely avoided the boy. Now, Yan Junyu was grateful for his arrival, despite putting his life at risk to come here. He went to the other’s side and murmured, “don’t move. These pieces of metal will cut your hand.”

He was not sure wherever Qi Ze really did hear his words, but in the next moment, he did stop and slowly retreated a tad farther away from the wreckage, retrieving out of his Interspatial Button1 a bottle of medicine and dribbled a bit of its contents on his bruised fingertips. The wound healed quickly, leaving light pink marks that would probably disappear in a few hours.

“Just dismantle the cockpit and leave everything else.” His tone revealed his coolness in situations such as this.

Ouyang Ye and several bodyguards nodded their heads and agreed to avoid the scraps of metal and focus only on the crushed cockpit.

After his initial feeling of appreciation had subsided, Yan Junyu finally realized the oddity of the situation. He recalled the boy as always being timid and sheepish, awakening in one’s heart pity for him. His character, just like his constitution, was very fragile, as if he could break at the slightest touch.

But now, the boy had casually slipped his hands inside his pockets, and with his jaw proudly raised, his deep, intense black eyes seemed to look down on the others. His posture resembled the one of a bystander, a detached outsider. If he really had admired Yan Junyu wholeheartedly, he wouldn’t be able to maintain his composure.

Yan Junyu deeply pondered on this, secretly observing Ouyang Ye and the others. The rumors were all but a lie. How could a so-called ‘pet’ stand and watch his ‘owner’ sweat and work hard?

The Ouyang family was involved in the trade of military supplies, and they were on friendly terms with the Yan family. According to Yan Junyu’s knowledge, Ouyang Ye had a rebellious nature, and most people wouldn’t even dare glance his way. Let alone obey his ‘pet’, he didn’t even respect his father publicly. Moreover, since his genes had suddenly evolved two years ago to train his physical abilities and make back-to-back breakthroughs, his temper also worsened. His aggressive disposition earned him the nickname ‘the biting-people dog’2.

But his attitude towards Qi Ze definitely raised question marks. Their relationship didn’t look like the one of an owner and a pet, but rather of a master and his servant.

If he hadn’t seen it with his own two eyes, Yan Junyu would certainly not have believed it, but he had never been interested in other people’s personal lives. His discovery of this anomaly didn’t prompt him to find out more about it. He genuinely didn’t care.

After busying themselves for a few more minutes, the twisted and flattened parts of the cockpit were finally removed from the inside of the fuselage. “Shao3 Qi, the mecha has been crushed and Yan Junyu can’t live no matter how powerful he may be. Why do you waste your time?” said Ouyang Ye, panting as he smashed the hatch with a magnetic pulse.

Shao Qi? Was it really the average relationship between a master and his servant? Yan Junyu dispelled his heavy heart with wishful thinking. No one knew what’s going on here better than he did. He was already deceased and could not be saved. At least in the history of humanity, no special being could be successfully revived, not even Mu Feixing, the mecha master who had reached the peak of SSS, had survived such an event.

“When I tell you to dismantle it, you dismantle it. What nonsense are you spouting?” Qi Ze stepped forward and fixed his gaze on the cockpit.

Yan Junyu quickly warned, “don’t go over there! The aftermath of the magnetic pulsator will destroy your internal organs!”

Unable to hear him, the boy drew nearer. Ouyang Ye did not pay him any attention to him, still working on the mecha.

The tragic situation Yan Junyu had imagined did not happen. The boy neither vomited blood, nor fainted on the spot, and he even turned the pulsator on to full power, fearing Ouyang Ye might be too slow. The hatch finally opened and a bloodied corpse was exposed to the onlookers.

Ouyang Ye and several bodyguards dropped their heads silently as a gesture of mourning the dead. The boy leaned down and tentatively touched the cadaver’s neck and wrist, announcing, “he’s dead.” With a saddened expression adorning his face, he whispered, “it’s all ruined!”

Yan Junyu was shocked to see his own dead body, not attentively watching the boy’s every move. He knew from an early age that he’d eventually die on the battlefield. Although he didn’t lose his life due to war, at least he died protecting his students from danger. He had many regrets and missed his friends and family, who were far away on the Imperial Star. No matter what, his body no longer had a beating heart, and his soul was now floating aimlessly. His inability to control or change anything frustrated him, leaving him with no option but to accept the reality.

At last, he struggled out of the vicious whirlpool of emotions and felt his spiritual body weaken so much that he feared it would disappear any moment along with his consciousness.

Meanwhile, Qi Ze took out several bottles of water from his Interspatial Button, wet his handkerchief and slowly wiped the blood on the body, declaring firmly, “I’m going to take the body with me.”

“Huh?” Ouyang Ye thought he had misheard him, and appeared a little dazed.

“I want to take Yan Junyu away,” Qi Ze repeated patiently and took out an iced coffin from his Interspatial Button, collecting his body inside of it.

By the time Ouyang Ye finally came to his senses, the iced coffin had already been hidden inside the Interspatial Button by the boy. He quickly pulled him aside and mumbled hurriedly, “Shao Qi, do you know what you’re talking about? Are you out of your mind? That’s Yan Junyu, the eldest young master of the Yun family, not a street rat! What do you want his corpse for? Do you like to collect dead bodies? It’s going to rot and you’re not even scared?! Even if you may have a fetish for corpses, at least choose one that’s intact and not disgusting! Furthermore, Yan Junyu is an SSS-grade specialist, it was the strongest weapon of the Yan family during the time he lived. He belongs to his family even after his death, so that biologists can study and improve the genes of the future descendants! Have you ever seen the dead body of an important person to another besides that person’s family? No! You’ll be punished if you get caught doing this!”

“If I don’t talk about it, and you don’t talk about it, and those bodyguards also don’t talk about it, no one will ever find out.” Qi Ze was still just as determined.

Ouyang Ye’s lips quickly moved to refute, “you think you can get away with it if we keep our mouth shut? When the rescue team comes, the first thing they have to do is to locate Yan Junyu’s body! Even if you hide him in your Interspatial Button, they’ll notice it once they scan it! Even though Yan Junyu’s mecha has turned into a heap of broken metal, the black box is still there and is functional! You can’t hide it when all our movements have been recorded!”

He grabbed the boy’s thin shoulders and shook him vigorously, “wake up, Shao Qi! Stop obsessing over Yan Junyu! He’s dead! Keeping him in there is just creepy! Let him rest in peace!”

Yan Junyu stared at the boy with cold eyes gleaming with suspicion and hostility as soon as he spoke about taking his body away. He was born into one of the most prominent families in the Empire. He had seen how filthy and greedy a human’s heart could be. Naturally, he recalled some not pleasant memories.

When this would happen to others, he could care less, but it’s terrible to happen to him.

“Qi Ze, thank you for coming to my rescue, but please respect my wish and return my body to my family.” Even though he knew the boy could not hear him, Yan Junyu still made his request calmly. As Ouyang Ye told Qi Ze, he desired for a peaceful eternal rest, and at the last moment when his soul was about to fade out of existence, he wished to return to his hometown and reunite with his relatives and friends.

Qi Ze didn’t feel how his heart was laden in distress, and instead, he swept away Ouyang Ye’s hands and said impatiently, “no one will know what happened, not even the black box.”

Ouyang Ye wanted to persuade him again, but when he glanced at the dark eyes of the young man, he was frightened.

Yan Junyu had never imagined that Qi Ze would be two-faced, appearing reserved, gentle and introverted, while secretly being daring and austere. Ouyang Ye, who was supposed to be the dominant one in the relationship, was intimidated by him and did not dare to continue to persuade him.

He almost cackled loudly at them both and at this situation ━ he was at the mercy of Qi Ze and was unable to stop him. Therefore, he quietly gazed at them cleaning up the place and covered up some of their traces. Did they really think they could escape being found out as long as everyone didn’t talk about it? Qi Ze was a carbon-based man, rarely being in contact with the actual world around him. It was understandable that he’d be naive and fooled by his emotions, but Ouyang Ye was the young master of the Ouyang family and should not lack the brains to comprehend such basic common sense.

“An individual with special abilities is the property of the state. Do you know what happens when you steal state propriety? Open the Star Code, turn to page 1137 and read Article 7, that’s where you’ll find the answer. If you are caught, you’ll be sentenced to 389 years in prison. Do you know what 389 years mean to a carbon-based person? You’ll be behind bars with the wickedest of criminals, until the day of your death.” Yan Junyu solemnly admonished the young man, only to see him blink innocently, as if nothing had happened in the first place.

1Strange that it’s not a bag or a ring or even a belt, but a button (空间钮)… Basically, an interspatial ring (in this case, button)/any storage treasure uses magic to store in a void any item, so the owner could easily access it

2狗咬人 this could either mean someone who doesn’t recognize a person with good intentions (hence his domineering and aggressive nature, causing people to instantly dislike him) or ‘a dog’ who threatens people on the strength of its master’s power

3My bad; it actually means young master/young…, oops!
